Important Property Tax Dates

2010
January 1: Tax lien date. All property is appraised and ownership is established as of January 1.

January 16: Interest begins to accrue on 2009 delinquent taxes, retroactive to January 1, at a rate of 6.25%.

March 15: Properties with a delinquent tax balance that is in its fifth year, is turned to the County Auditor for the May Tax Sale.

May: Tax Sale...Properties with a delinquent tax balance that is in its fifth year will be sold to the highest bidder. Exact date to be announced.

On or before
July 22: Auditor sends Notice of Valuation and Tax Changes to all real property owners.

September 15: Deadline for appealing property values.

On or before
November 1: Tax Notices are mailed to all property owners.

November 30: Last day to pay current year property taxes without penalty.

December 1: Unpaid taxes become delinquent and penalty charge attached. The penalty is $10 or 2% if over $500 on EACH DELINQUENT PARCEL.

On or before
December 31: All 2010 delinquent parcels are advertised in the Vernal Express and listed on the county web site.
