Message from Tal Ehlers, County Emergency Manager:
Thank you for visiting the Uintah County Emergency Management Website! I hope you will find the information contained on these pages helpful.
As you create your personal, family and business emergency preparedness plans remember this basic principle. Every living being needs the same items to endure an incident or disaster. Food, Water, Clothing, Shelter and Fuel. If you have these simple commodities available to you then you can handle just about anything.
There are multiple resources available locally and online to help you to become prepared for the majority of disasters we may face in the Uintah Basin. There are also a number of emergency preparedness training opportunities available to the public each year. I invite you to get involved! If you don’t know where to start then please contact my office at (435) 781-5466 for more information. I look forward to assisting you in the development of your emergency plans.

EMERGENCY NOTIFICATION SYSTEM
CodeRED Seconds Count In An Emergency!
Uintah County has instituted the CodeRED Emergency Notification System - an ultra high-speed telephone communication service for emergency notifications. This system allows us to telephone all or targeted areas of the county in case of an emergency situation that requires immediate action (such as a boil-water notice, missing child or evacuation notices).
The system is capable of dialing 1,500 phone calls per hour. It then delivers our recorded message to a live person or an answering machine, making three attempts to connect to any number.

THIS SYSTEM WILL ONLY BE USED FOR EMERGENCY PURPOSES.
Examples of times when the CodeRED system could be utilized:
- Drinking water contamination
- Utility outage
- Evacuation notice & route
- Missing person
- Fires or Floods
- Bomb threat
- Hostage situation
- Chemical spill or Gas leak
and other emergency incidents where rapid and accurate notification is essential for life safety.
